Purpose: The Sanford Health Lakota Nation Scholarship is awarded to students committed to serving Native American communities, helping them achieve academic success with fewer financial barriers and empowering them to uphold high standards within their communities.

 

Eligibility:

• Be accepted and/or pursuing a degree as a full-time* student at a public or private, US-based accredited institution of higher education

Encouraged to Apply:

• All individuals who are passionate about delivering culturally responsive care to Tribal Nations

 

Application Requirements:

• Resume

• Short Essays

• Personal Biography including your proudest accomplishments.

• Describe your reasons for choosing your profession.

• Who is your role model, and why?

• Share your experiences in caring for your family and/or the Native American community. Discuss the values that drive your actions and the outcomes of your efforts.

• Describe the ways in which your education will help enhance providing culturally responsive care for Native American patients.

• Official letter confirming admission and good standing

• One character recommendation (Link will be sent to recommender to complete upon application submission)

 

Selection Process:

• Applications will be reviewed and scholarship recipients will be selected in accordance with the written criteria established.

• All qualified applicants will be considered.

• All application criteria, questions and appropriate paperwork must be completed to be considered. Specific examples of activities and achievements are especially helpful to the selection committee.

 

Amount: Each scholarship awarded will be $2,500.

 

Renewal Process: This scholarship is not renewable, applicants must reapply on a yearly basis.
